Hi all! I apologize for the posting delay. Between a few personal hiccups, a busy time at work and the never-ending task of downsizing my apartment, 99% of my free time has been occupied! I know you’ve been waiting for this, so let’s get down to it.
I know it’s a bit late for a straight summer wardrobe, but I’m hoping that those of you in warmer climates can still get a few months wear out of this, and I’ll show you how to transition this to fall!
TWO SIMPLE SHOPPING RULES
When shopping, I tried to stick to the following two pieces of advice while assembling my capsule:
1. invest in a few new pieces each fall (don’t fall for the cheap stuff)
2. select items that can transition from season to season
If you find it helpful to set a budget, go ahead and do so. I had about $350 in mind this time around since I knew I needed a few more pieces to help get me through the rest of the year – I’m not quite done shopping for 2015, but I’m trying to curb my habits. Don’t forget to shop sales religiously and set up alerts when your favorites go on sale – I’m a huge fan of ShopStyle for their email alert system and their cute, curated lists of discounted items across the internet.
YOU PROBABLY OWN MOST OF THESE THINGS ALREADY
As we’ve covered previously, you’ve already set aside key pieces from your ‘purge’ that you’re interested in keeping and wearing for the long haul. Most of the items below are classic and I’m willing to be you’ve already got a few sitting your newly de-cluttered closet. If you’ve found that you’re seriously lacking quality neutral pieces, you might want to up your budget a bit this time around.
I’ll be back soon with outfit ideas, more advice, and more posts! Comment if you’ve got questions, I’m here to help!
